MARK OF THE THIEF quote 1

There are exactly three weeks (corrected – thanks Celine!) until the release of MARK OF THE THIEF! I am so excited to share this book with you. Here is one of my favorite quotes from the book:

In this scene, Nic has just met Valerius, one of the Senators of Rome. Valerius notices a mark on Nic’s back that he got from a griffin named Caela. Until Valerius tells Nic about it, Nic had assumed it was only a deep scratch.

Senator Valerius leaned down to me and whispered, “I am your friend, but do not trust that anyone else in Rome will feel the same way. I will try to get to the mines before dark. Until then, understand that the mark on your back is no scratch. It doesn’t matter how you got it, only that there are people who will kill you if they see it.”

Despite the rudeness of looking directly at him, my eyes met his. “Why?” I asked. “What’s there?”

Mrs Nielsen – that sounds creepy! Maybe griffin scratches or bites or whatever or poisonous? They heal? Symbolize a person who will be wealthy-famous-low-powerful?
Four weeks until Mark of the Thief comes out! Oh, patience, that humble virtue that makes thee want to shout in agony of desperation of words… Books, to be precise. I can’t wait until Mark of the Thief comes out!

Ah, yes Celine, you’re right. I was counting four Tuesdays that I could put up quotes! (And this is why I’m not in a math career!)

Oh, okay; that makes sense. 🙂 I was just hoping I hadn’t accidentally mixed up the date. I’m not exactly math savvy, either. Thanks!!

Any chance the book trailer will be out by Feb. 12th? We’re reading The False Prince for book club this month and I would love the chance to show them the book trailer for Mark of the Thief to promote it! So far I’ve gotten all positive feedback on your books (everyone who I’ve recommended The Ascendance Trilogy to has loved it so I knew my book club would) from my book club students:)

Hi Lauren! Thanks so much for choosing The False Prince for your book club! I think the MARK OF THE THIEF trailer will probably be finished by then, or at least, I hope so! I’ll link to it here on my blog when it does go up. Thanks for asking!

My daughter just got your book from Scholastic Book Fair at school. It is called The Mark of the Thief, is this a solo book/stand alone book, or will it become part of series and if so are the others out there yet and their names to purchase them. My daughter always likes to read the whole series when reading books and in their correct order. Thanks.

Thanks for the note, Tracy. This is the first of a planned series – it hasn’t even been officially released yet, except through Clubs and Fairs. I hope she’ll like it!

The anticipation is killing me!! I plan on pre ordering a signed copy on The King’s English! Do you know when a paperback version will be come out? Do you think it will be a while like it was with The Shadow Throne?

Thanks, Dakota Rose! I know paperbacks can be ordered through Scholastic Book Fairs, but the regular release is hardback. usually the paperback comes out about 11 months after the hardback is released.

First, I’m SOOOOOOOO excited to read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Second, the 25th will be the one year mark of how long The Shadow Throne has been out, and I’m going to wake up at 4:44 AM and read it just like I did last year. 🙂
Third, I just suddenly got interested in anything and everything in ancient Rome, so, like I said, I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
