Book Launch Day! Jennifer Nielsen February 26, 2014

Book Launch Day!

I07C8034Wow! Let me start with my thanks to all of you! To those who commented in various places online, those who came out to the book launch party, and those who have bought copies or asked for them to be at your local library.

I’ve seen many blogs and reviews about THE SHADOW THRONE, and loved them all. For as much as the online rankings can be measured, it got as low as #269 on Amazon and #58 on Barnes and Noble. And the turnout at last night’s launch party at King’s English Bookshop was extraordinary. Truly overwhelming. Here are some photos from that launch.

So many people came. I was sorry for those who didn’t get seats, but so happy to see everyone!

Finally, and most importantly – CHECK OUT THAT CAKE! It completely blew me away.

I07C8011

Thanks everyone for making yesterday the best launch day of my career!

If you missed the launch but are a Utah type, I’ll be at Barnes and Noble South Towne (10180 South State Street, SLC) this Saturday, March 1 from 1-4, at an authorpalooza with tons of your favorite local authors.

So…what am I doing today? Writing, of course!

Yippee and congratulations on your successful launch Jennifer! What an amazing cake, was it as good as it looked? My grandsons and I are so ready to continue the adventure in The Shadow Throne – and I assure you, I am just as keen as the boys ( ages 10, 12 and 16).

No worries, Dakotah! Hopefully one day I’ll have a signing near you!

p.s. Did you order a book to be signed from King’s English? If so, their signing paper might not have had an H on the end of your name. If I got it wrong, just get a Sharpie and add the H. I apologize if I missed it – I just wasn’t sure if it was you or another girl with the same name.

yes I did order it from there. I forgot I kept putting the H on the end of my name on this site. I was going to get it legally changed like that. and when i ordered it, My mom was sitting on me when she was ordering the book because I refused to get off the chair. She typed the message.

PS. I’m SO excited for the book to come in. I think I’m about to start chapter 20…maybe 19. I don’t remember. But I’m having a hard time…accepting…what…happened…:,(

I will finish it of course. I’m just trying to take in what happened. I NEVER would have expected it. They way you put Jaron’s words made it that much more emotional. my friend Aleighna’s jaw dropped when I told her my favorite character died.

I am so excited for this book!!! I ordered it yesterday, and I can’t wait for it to get here!!!! I just finished re-reading “The False Prince”, and I am about halfway through “The Runaway King”. I’m trying to only read a little bit at a time, so that I will finish it right when “The Shadow Throne” gets here. But since my book hasn’t even shipped yet, and I’m already halfway through TRK after reading it for only a day, it looks like it isn’t going to happen. 😛 Thank you for such wonderful, captivating books!! 😀

The book still hasn’t arrived at my bookstore….Ugh..so hard to not spoil the book for myself more

I was wondering if The False Prince trilogy takes place before or after the Renaissance period? And what would be the appropriate age that Jaron will marry whoever..because it took me a while to realize he is 14! So mature than boys nowadays!

And will you be planning to come to Canada anytime soon?

    • Reply
      March 4, 2014, 2:54 am

Ugh, I hope it gets there soon! The False Prince would take place pre-Renaissance – maybe the 1400’s or even a little earlier, though because it’s fantasy I can play a little with the actual time period.

And no promises on who he’s going to marry. There’s the question of who is alive by the end of the book, and which of the girls will have him.

He’s “nearly 15” in The False Prince, so he’d be 15 by the final book. And pretty mature in some ways, though he’s had a lot of growing up to do in others.

Sorry i accidentally pressed the the enter key even though i wasn’t finished!( BOO BOO 🙂 What i wanted to say was… (AHEM) OMGGGGGG The Shadow Throne was positively perferrific! The thrillness, the adventures, the sorrow, (the romance), I swear how did you manage to combine all of them into three amazing fantastic BOOKS!? Please tell me Mrs. Nielsen. I myself love love LOVE to write, and have written many stories, (not as long as yours, but long) and you are such a magnificent inspiration for writers like moi’. I have tried to combine them all into one story, (the adventures, thrillness, ext. not the books) but they somehow don’t make someone want to flip the page or show those OMG-this-is-a-awesome-story-book eyes. Other than that, superb job on Jaron, Imogen, Amarinda, Tobias, and Roden. I’m not going to beg but, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A MOVIE

In the movie biz, nothing is ever sure until the movie is actually showing in the theater. So all we can do is celebrate where we’re at. I’ll announce when there’s something more to say, though it might be next winter before we know. Fingers crossed!
