Big Giveaway Winners! Jennifer Nielsen January 27, 2014

Big Giveaway Winners!

Okay, mea culpa here. I thought the idea of donating would make it fun to see what winning readers might plan to do with their books. And you all responded with so much generosity and real stories of need within your schools and community, or your enthusiasm to share a book with a friend, or even to keep the book because you haven’t been able to get a copy of your own. I read each comment feeling more and more sad that I wouldn’t be able to give books to everyone.

For those who didn’t win a copy of THE SHADOW THRONE, there will be one last ARC giveaway beginning tomorrow here. Otherwise, the book will be released in only one month!

And if you didn’t win a copy of THE RUNAWAY KING, it’s going to be released on Tuesday in paperback, which I hope will make it easier for you to get your own copy.

Thank you, thank you all for entering! Your comments were very kind and heartwarming.

If your name is below, then congratulations! I will send you a private email to get your address, and I will send your book right out!

ARCs of THE SHADOW THRONE:  TIffiny Duke and Lisa Schadler

THE RUNAWAY KING: Dawn Lyons, Ingrid Mayyasi, Kim (@kacwrites), Michelle King, Orchid @The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia, Scott Taylor (@HyggeMan), Nikki Parton, Traci Ann Borja, Camilla, and Mariem

Jennifer I am writing a book but I need some advice on making it awsome like yours! Do you have any advice?

Maya – Get your favorite book and re-read it like it’s a textbook. Read it to find out how the author handled dialogue, emotions, characterization, etc. Find out why it worked so well for you. You can do the same for books you didn’t love – why not? Where did it lose you? The better you understand what you love and don’t love in a book, the more you can bring those great things into your own writing. Good luck!

You sure give some real good advice. I’m glad I found out about the False Prince. It’s one of the best books that’s ever fallen into my hands. I hope to read more of your totally awesome book. Good luck on whatever book you’re working on right now!

By the way, what book are you work on right now? I remember in one of you other updates you said something about a guy named Nick? I’d like to know what book it is, if you’ve decided the title. Thank you!

Thanks, Rashida! The book I’m working on now (with Nic) is called THE PRAETOR WAR, and it takes place in Ancient Rome!

I find it interesting that if you go on Amazon, I found the whole book for preview…except they take out a page here and there. 🙁
But I read the preview and I could NOT believe the beginning! I thought they FINALLY became friends…oh boy, Roden versus Jaron…I’m pretty sure this one’s gonna go to Jaron.

Yep, you can see a lot of the story there, but there’s definitely more of the story. I hope when you get a chance to read the whole thing, that you’ll enjoy it!

    Congrats, everyone!
Are there any tour stops planned aside from at King’s English?

Anyway, I just want to say thank you for your books. I first picked The False Prince up at the library because it looked ‘interesting enough’. I now have about a dozen friends hooked on the series as well. 🙂

Thanks Lynette. I’ll be at B&N in South Salt Lake on March 1, and I think something is coming together in Albuquerque in a few weeks. But I know that’s still pretty thin for signing schedules. Sorry!

Super excited for The Shadow Throne! It’s not listed as a preorder yet on Audible.com, but the wait is almost over.
If anyone is searching your books by author name on Audible, you are listed as Nielsen (with the e) for False Prince and Nielson (note the o) for Runaway King. They are linked through the series however.

I didn’t enter this contest but that’s okay. I received my ARC of the ShadowThrone yesterday and I stayed up late to finish it. Omigish! Great job!
